March 2010

Quite a lot has happened since I last posted something, boys and girls; Thanasis Papaconstantinou decided to play with a new set of musicians for the forthcoming summer (in effect disbanding what was left of the 8 year-old guard), the holiday engagement with Dimitris Papadimitriou and Fotini Darra went by, non-stop spring gigging with Nick and the Backbone is still going on, rehearsals with Rallia Christidou are scheduled for a series of concerts in Athens, and an "all-star" team featuring the father-and-son duo of Manolis and Andreas Karadinis has been assembled by Melina Aslanidou for a concert in New York at the prestigious Town Hall Theater.

One thing I'd like to comment on is playing with Nick Gravenites; the man's history is undeniable, but it's his resilience, humor, and playful nature that have to be experienced. Besides, listening to this voice is always a treat.

I have also done a drum clinic, there's more coming, and I hope I can keep my strength, because all this traveling can be taxing.

I'd also like to draw your attention to the number of young bands around. It's definitely a good sign that was relatively absent in Greece 4-5 years back, and shows that certain things will not be supressed.

The road has eyes
